Fuel Pump Recommend

My front fuel pump is starting to go out. I’m looking for a good aftermarket pump. My sender is good just looking to replace the pump. I don’t want to spend dealer prices but don’t want to go super cheap either. Thank you.

Installed Spectra pumps and gas tanks 11 or 12 years ago. No problems and pretty accurate sending units.

I looked online for OEM ford parts, theres alot of dealers that have cheaper online sales. I went with both pumps and went oem, also consider lifting bed rather than pulling tank just seemed easier

When I removed the bed during the frame swap, I had to grind/ cut off every bolt head. It took me 3/4 of a day to remove the bed and I had access to an overhead chain hoist. I always drop the tanks using a floor jack if working in driveway.

dude, it’s a way easier way to go. Last time I did it I had the ups man help me take it off when he was on his rounds.

Who is “dude” and what is the easier way to go? That was nice of the UPS guy and convenient that he showed up when he did. How were you going to to remove the bed if he wasn’t there?

Taking the bed off. And last fuel pump I did I pulled the bed off and hadn’t thought that far in advance. But once the bed is off it’s just right there. I think my plan was to just hinge it off the bumper onto a couple blocks of wood but the nice ups guy happened to be delivering as I was doing it. Dropping the tank is a pain in the **** although I was thinking with two tanks you can really get the one tank pretty empty.

Dropping the gas tank is 1000X easier. You must live in an area with zero rust issues.

Maybe I’ll try the tank again. I seem to remember doing the bed wasn’t that bad. I do have pneumatic tools. Maybe I’ll give spectra a go. I think that was what I put in on my last obs.

Support the tank with a floor jack. Remove the straps. Lower the tank enough to remove the lines, filler neck and electrical plug. Lower the tank the rest of the way. Done.

There was a thread not too long ago from a guy in Florida. He had the bed bolts removed in a few minutes so,yes, that was easier for him. That would never happen where I live.

that was me, but yeah, if you live in the rust belt dropping the tank is probably easier and less of a hassle

Spectra is also what I used on several previous trucks for the rear. Just installed a new Spectra in the front tank today. I have had zero issues with Spectra so far. Also, the Spectra pump I used sells for 170.00+$ from AutoZone. I searched Ebay and found the identical Pump for $76.50.
