Hi, Forum - My fuel sender is starting to stick and I've been feeling my fuel pump is getting long-lived too, so I've been thinking about just replacing the whole assembly at one time. Question is - What do you think about Carter fuel pump/sender assemblies vs. OEM Motorcraft? Is the OEM really worth twice the price of Carter?
I used a after market fuel pump on my 90 Aero with no problems. I did not change out the sending unit, the anti slosh mod. in the dash is out, so I left the old sending unit in. But the pump is working just fine.
Hi, Bertha66 - Yup, I'm just going to do the whole thing, so I don't have to go in twice. Does anyone else have some 'brand' recommendations? I'm leaning heavily towards Carter, since they seem to have a good reputation.

I have a '93 Dodge Dakota pickup that had a fuel pump failure about 2 years ago. The factory pump failed with about 150K miles on it and because I needed that truck that evening yet, I bought the replacement on a late Sunday afternoon at a national chain store. The pump I took out said "Made by Carter" on it and the no-name replacement was identical in every way, including the "Made by Carter" in the same identical area. All I can say is that the replacement pump still works. I'm GUESSING that Carter is as good or better than most of the replacement pumps out there.
My $.02 worth.
P.S. Against my better judgement, I just replaced the fuel pump in my daughter's Mustang with one made in China. (Long story that I won't get into here) We'll see how long that one lasts.
