Spent some time reflecting on myself and got to thinking...I'm 32 years old, I need to grow up. So I made the decision. It's time to put the DPF back on my 7.3 and put global warming first. I hope others follow me in this journey.
Something to do with dissipating heat during a parked re-gen. I have driven big trucks that demanded I pull over and wait it out for 30-40 minutes while it did it's thing, and it gets hotter than hell. On the pickups I think only the Ford dealer can do a forced/parked regen. Maybe it's an option on the medium duty trucks.
Serious question, what the purpose of the slots on the exhaust tips on the Chevys and Fords?
Draws in cool air to keep exhaust temps down when regening. I believe when they first started putting dpfs on some of them were shooting flames out the tip.
Hey looks pretty good, how different does it sound?
Seems a little throatier than plain 4". The install wasn't too bad except for the old sensor wires that have been dangling for years, threw a CEL, think it's the DEF pump.
The 6.4/6.7 systems that use this tailpipe are 3.5". At the tip it opens up to 4" ID. Cut the tip off and it slides directly over a 4" pipe, held in place with a couple welds but a clamp would probably work as well.
