My 04 F250 5.4l had a P0455 code so I took off The EVAP purge valve off and blew air in the port. One way no air came out reverse it and air flows. I put power to it and no clicking so I am guessing it is bad. I put the old one back in and cleared code. Now the light comes on with P0443. I checked plug connection and cleaned it but code came right back. Should I just replace the purge valve? Moorcroft is over $100+ just do not need to waste money this time of year if not necessary. Thanks
I think a bad fuel cap will give both of these codes.
It could only cause the P0455.
The P0443 is an electrical circuit fault in the purge valve's control. Could be an open coil or some an open/short in the wiring to the valve or internal to the PCM.
It would be a good idea to simply check the resistance of the valve's coil first to see if it's open. Should be a few dozen ohms.

Isn't it possible that with a bad gas cap a signal will not be sent to the purge valve?
I already replaced it with a motorcraft gas cap and that was not the problem. I did order a new purge valve today we'll get it by next Monday. When I want to test it with the power probe it kept coming up with a Dead short so I am gathering the valve is bed. I guess I will see when the new valve comes. Thank you
