Parade

Drove the old truck in the Ball Ground parade last night. It was popular with the kids. The float in front of me was blowing fake snow and it made a mess all over the truck. I was afraid it wouldn’t come off easily but it cleaned up quickly with some quick detailer and a microfiber wipe down. A lot of fun. Probably a good hour of idling and clutching, no issues! The magic air heater kept me nice and toasty in the cab!

Nice. Your truck looks very very nice.

Our church asked me to use one of my trucks to pull a float in the local Christmas parade but I don't have a hitch on either one.

I did drive my flatbed in a homecoming parade this fall.

Thanks for sharing Abe. Old trucks in parades are really cool + it makes us keep them tuned perfectly to avoid having to be pushed out of the way!

Nice looking truck
My car club members were in a parade yesterday, I had to work so could not go.

They (parade people) also have a lot of new rules in place after last weeks 12 year old getting run over and dying at the Raleigh NC parade from a newer truck pulling a float that lost its brakes and could not stop.
I know they said anything pulling (large) floats had to have electric brakes and the tow truck also had to be set up for them.
Also think anything in the parade had to be checked over for safety.
Here I think anything over 25 years dose not need a yearly safety check so us older cars & trucks just get plate renew each year.
I know like most of us our older trucks and cars are kept in great working order so I dont fear not passing a safety check at any time.

They also stopped throwing candy out at parades near home (Raleigh NC). Kids would run out in front of a car or truck to pick up candy and may not be seen.
I got stuck at a cross street for a parade 100 miles from home yesterday and they were throwing candy and seen a parent had to pull a kid from the road to let the car and parade go.

Beautiful truck!!! I can't wait to get ours done and drive it in a parade! Next time you should throw a Christmas tree in the back!

I Love the parade pictures of the trucks guys! You don't see many older vehicles in parades in my part of the world anymore. Usually the organizers such as the local Chamber of Commerce now charge a fee to enter something in a parade. There are exceptions for vehicles used for nonprofits though. As much as It bugs me, I can kind of see why they do. Before they started doing that the local new car ,boat, and RV dealers would jam the parades full of their inventory turning the them into one long rolling 4 wheel show. Charging for each unit eliminated a lot of that. But it also eliminated the casual classic vehicle entries which I think is unfortunate.

It was a fun evening and the truck did well. I have not put many miles on it since the restoration so I am always a little nervous in parades.

my learning and tip to others - make sure you are not behind a float blowing fake snow! It’s a real mess to cleanup afterwards

We handed out about 250 bags of candy and invitations to our Christmas Eve service at our church. It’s a fun way to engage the community, 2nd year we have participated.
