"There aren't any plows that throw or push to the left, that would put snow into oncoming traffic. They aren't that backwards, nto even in MN."
FYI- Most city/county/state plows around here are mounted midway between the front and rear wheels and can push the snow either left or right. They push to the left on inside lanes of divided highways so you could very well pass on the right and have to sometimes.

How does the guy who drives the snowplow get to work?
(obvious answer: in a Ford truck)
Long time ago, I drove a snow plow one winter, on leave. I lived about 3 miles from the depot, and when it snowed, it was bad (Northern Europe) so I had to walk and being somewhat dark I had to have a light, to see where the snow poles were at. A flash light would have been the sensible thing, but... I had a pump up kerosene lamp, with the glass shade. One morning, walking to work, the snow was really slick, and I went flying... The light also went flying, and shattered on impact, throwing a pint and a half of kerosene in a perfect hollow ring about 5 feet round. Fortunately I was not in the circle of fire, but it was spectacular, I hung about keeping warm for the 5 minutes it burned then looked for the lamp.. I never found it, and wandered off into the dark, to find the snow plow.. 2 hours later, still dark, there were a few people about, looking for the snow plow driver, who was still wandering around looking for the hump that would be the plow...... After 4 more hours, still dark, I found the plow, and started digging it out, so I could try to start it. The engine block heater was on a time switch, so the thing had been off for about 5 hours, so the truck took one heck of a lot of starting, then chugged black smoke out for 10 minutes before it ran smoothly. I managed to get the place plowed, and luckily nobody minded me being so late.. At about mid day, a faint glow showed in the south , suggesting that the sun was over there somewhere, then it got dark again. That place was the coldest darkest and most miserable place I have ever spent a winter. I should have gone home, but the leave was only for 6 weeks, and there was a nice girl........ It would have taken me about 2 weeks travel to get home and back, so that would have left me with 4 weeks to do nothing at home.. I think the winter was better than that.

I like the one that says "Your speed" with 108 MPH on it
I wish i had a camera with me a few years ago. I had a 92 SHO with a few mods and went by a sign like that and it flashed "000". I was well over 130 at the time, probably close to 140. There was noone around and it was 3am. My dad was pretty scared though.
when they put the one in my neighborhood i would go around the block a few times and see how fast i could get goin in the short distance ~1/10th of a mile, it made boring days a lil more interesting
