We have as our 3rd vehicle for two drivers a 1990 F250 Supercab XLT Lariat with an 8 foot bed. Up until recently it carried the family camper.
I have to admit that as for putting only 27000 miles on it during almost 10 years of ownership we did not do much more than the routine oil change and tire maintenance.
It currently gets about 10-15 mpg and has recently had an oil change. We definitely plan to get it tuned up soon (it needs it) but we don't think that it will improve the mileage much.
Any suggestions as to what will improve gas mileage and/or output? Nothing overly expensive or hard-to-install though. The truck doesn't get used enough to warrant major upgrades. We are a suburban family, but we have always found it nice to have a truck to haul stuff around with.
Thanks in advance,
Andy Carabino
BTW what are the HP/torque ratings for the engine, I was only 10 when we got the truck and my dad doesn't remember what they are...
Andy, If you are getting that kind of mileage out of a 460 consider yourself VERY lucky.
Can't help you with torque and HP on your vehicle.
The peak torque in one of my 460s is at 2200 rpm. All depends on the cam.
