Surfing around for new front motor mounts for the F-2 and found a few sites that listed as fitting "1948 F-1". How can these be used in our old trucks? I could see a single MacParts site listing this part but I've found it on quite a few sites. I don't see how this would work on a stock truck.
Yes, I know where I can get the correct mounts, just curious if anyone has tried to use these.
Or is that supposed to be the rear mount? Seems like I remember a thread about that in the last year.

I ordered the correct set from Mid-Fifties this afternoon but I've never seen the type I posted and was just curious if anyone used them. I wouldn't, I like the originals.
I call the chain parts stores, Advance Auto, AutoZone and Oriellys MacParts stores but all they seem to have is parts servers, few now what they are selling and even fewer are car guys. Oriellys, at least in my area, seem to have better people working in their stores. Prime example happened last Sunday. I needed a pilot bearing for the F-2, I got a couple of pilot bushings of different sizes but only one fit and I prefer a bearing. I had the part number for the bearing so checked all of the local MacParts stores, an Advance near me was listed on their website as having the bearing. I call and mumble bum answered the phone and mumbled a non coherent greeting. When I asked if they had the bearing me mumbled, no, they didn't have it. I then found an Oriellys that had one listed and called to verify they in fact had one and they confirmed they did. Before driving 40 minutes one way cross town I stopped at the Advanced to see in person if they had one. Walk in and mumble mouth behind the counter, don't know if it was the same guy I talked to on the phone earlier but sounded the same. I gave him the part number, 302S, he types in 320S, I tell him he entered the wrong number and it took him a couple of minutes to correct it and sees he has one. Slowly saunters into the back room and came out with the correct part. Saved me about an hour of drive time. This is a MacParts store, just like Macdonald's, never know what you're going to get when you go in.
Locally here, Bob, our NAPA is great. We have local Car Quest called Economy Auto Parts. They have car guys working. One guy is a Ford truck guy. And our Advanced Auto is good if the right guy is working.

NAPA is the #1 place to go around here. I have three nearby, one is great, one is good and the third not so much but unfortunately the first two have short hours and aren't open on Sunday, the time it always seems you need a part. I have a Carquest about 25 miles away, that's the place that turned the crank for my F-2. Seems like they are car guys but are the farthest away. All of the Advanced and Autozone are a hit and miss, mostly miss, especially the Advanced, they really got bad in the last year or so.
AutoZone is our go-to parts store here. All of their staff is over 40. Many are over 50. Not that age matters, but they're old enough to remember what a job is supposed to be.
We lost our NAPA store last year. There is still a good machine shop there, but the parts are all cheapo.
