I have a 1976 f250 that was originally a 460 truck. I now have an early 70's 351 cleveland from a Mustang. It is a factory rebuild with a brand new Holley 500 2 barrell and msd ready to run distributor with no vacuum advance. It has the typical rough running issues on take off and low RPM, at higher RPM it runs fine. Looking for vacuum hose diagram or suggestions.. Thanks
Not an original engine ... has no vacuum on distributor ... likely no smog ... all you can run manifold vacuum for is power brake booster if it has power brakes, AC controls which it likely doesn't have, a vacuum gauge on the steering collumn maybe, cruise control if you have one, PCV valve in valve cover. The power brake booster and PCV will use 5/16 or 3/8 hose anyway. PCV can hook to base of carb where all cylinders share the joy, but power brake booster can use any connection that fits anywhere between the heads and the carburetor base. There'll be no need for ported vacuum, so plug it on side of Holley. Plug all unused vacuum sources.
Forget gas mileage.
If you suspect a vacuum leak, here a whistle, spray a puff of start fluid there, if idle picks up youi found a leak.
