The OEM lug nuts on my 2019 F350 have swelled and it’s becoming almost impossible to get my SnapOn 13/16 deep socket on them. Is it because they are stainless steel? Would a 21 mm be a better fit? Has anybody found a good aftermarket set that won’t do the same thing nor rust in a couple of years. This is the only vehicle I have ever had that has this problem with lug nuts. I always torque with a hand torque wrench but I bet the dealer or tire stores use an impact driver.
Could it be that you have an issue with the 2 pieces because there is the nut and a cover? Maybe water is getting behind it, rusts and swells? IDK what you want to do but I bought a new set of take off wheels and they come with the 32 nuts. If you want to pick them up, you are welcome to them. IF I have to ship, I will charge you shipping. IF you are interested, let me know.
21MM is the correct size for the lug nuts. You could try napa for some replacements. they might have them.
tire places/dealer would use an impact. Makes them too tight.
I use an impact to take them off and an impact in a low setting to put them on the majority of the way then use the old fashioned lug nut star wrench.
Not my idea of fun. NAPA is going to be expensive buying 32. Might be cheaper buying a new set that isn't 2 piece.
It shouldn't unless they have the setting too tight. But if his nuts are swollen, it either could be corrosion or a medical problem. For the former, I would replace all the nuts instead of just the few, wait till it happens again and replace another few. I also put anti-seize on the threads and back down the torque a little since it is now "wet torque".
I would start them by hand, impact to low torque and final tighten with a torque wrench unless I am in the boonies.
That is one of many threadthat have been posted over the years. Doing a google search on "Ford swollen lug nuts" turns up quite a few stories involving various Ford models over the years.

Any chance that Snap-On socket is the FDX version? FDX = Flank Drive Xtra. The FDX sockets provide a tighter grip on fasteners. I haven't tried my FDX sockets on my F-350's lug nuts yet.
I bought a complete set on eBay because when I used the 21mm socket to remove them after the dealership rotated the tires, it rounded some of the corners on the lugnuts - had a heck of a time getting the nut out of the socket. So far the new ones are good. It took a bit of searching to find the right ones though.

I had this on my MB. 4 out of 20. Bought solid ones.
I figure they're bound to round off after enough removals and reinstalls. I've disliked them on every vehicle that I've had with them.
I ditched them and bought a solid set for a 2008 Pontiac G5 I had for a beater/daily driver last summer. Pretty cheap on Amazon only buying 20, even though the car only had 16 on it.
