If the word "******" is the work he's thinking is getting blocked, it's not. I'm seeing it in my browser.
Nothing wrong or vulgar with the word ******, it is a commonly used word in the English language. It means to quickly seize or grab ahold of something.

The forum hasn’t blocked the use of the word ****** at any time in this thread. If your computer isn’t displaying that word, maybe you bought your computer from a company in CA. 😉😂
Now, let’s get back to some educational discussion about winches in our trucks please.

No worries Dave. After the use of the word ****** came up in multiple posts, I just wanted to say the issue was a non-issue so this didn't continue to get off track. I'm really enjoying the winch responses and experiences of others. Pretty sure I'm going with a 12k, and I'll likely go with the Badlands since it outperforms and is cheaper than the Warn. I'll pay for the 2 year extended warranty. My toughest issue right now is which damn bumper. I want to keep the bumper weight under 200lbs, and I'd like to keep the cost around $1,500 give-or-take. Problem is very few pictures show a side view that gives me a good perspective on how far it protrudes out the front.
I've bought most of the shackles, ****** blocks, tow strap, and tree saver straps, and they are all very over-rated (overkill ) for my piece of mind. Bought them from Gear America, which also sells on Amazon. Everything I read and see rates their gear highly, and their prices are a good bit lower than Warns.

Thanks! I've done nothing yet since I don't feel any pressure right now. Generally I don't venture into the mountains in the middle of winter, and the holiday season tends to increase the cash outflow.
The linked bumper does look like a good one, but not sure it warrants over double the price of the other one I'm considering.
Not a bad looking bumper. It doesn't stick out like a fat lip as many other bumpers do. However, I see two locations to place the fairlead. It says it "can fit most standard winches". Yeah, but which ones? The TrailReady.com website says "Warn 16,500lb or M12,000 winch" for the 2017+. Warn does have a couple part numbers for the 12v 16,500 rating. But maybe it's an hydraulic winch that fits? I would be very careful buying a winch bumper for the 6.7L as there is more "stuff" in the way with the diesel than there is with the gas engine.
Just wondering if anyone has installed the hidden winch system that Warn worked with Ford on for the Raptor, apparently they are now available for 20-22 superduty's now I thin the model number is M1821SD
I have had a winch on a front hitch before, Frankly Never used it in the rear plus it was really just on there to remove it. Just did underdrags if I Absolutely had to running the line under the axles. Granted the tie rods are lower on the 6.7s probably making that a non-option. The winch was also a 10k but it always pulled beyond what it probably should have and it was hydraulic which probably had something to do with it. I never really cared even with trailers off road in clay or one instance where it was used to pull the truck and trailer sideways to turn around on a road.
I also have a 13.5 electric offbrand on a international that was able to pull the truck forward with the air brakes locked (17.5k lbs truck) and if I ever got really struck I have snatchblocks on hand but that truck doesn't get taken off road. That truck is also set up for moving it to the rear. But I got a new over drive transmission for that truck that came with a PTO pump and I'm looking at a compact 20k hydraulic winch for it.
For my 6.7 I found a 10k milemarker which I'm going to mount inside a Move brand bumper as I never really saw the point of removing it I'd much rather just keep it on me at all times. I was looking for a 12k but I came across another 10k model for $250 that someone pulled off a jeep. For a $1400 winch I couldn't complain. If I need a second winch I'll just set it up for a electric winch.
Whatever you get go ahead and get it with or put synthetic line on it and you'll never look back. It will also take a good chunk of weight off of the winch itself.
