So I have 2 friends with "troubled" teens and they have been weighing heavy on my mind. I thought of something to help them. A camp with small cabins but the cabins are 1/2 mile apart. No phone or internet. The kids would have to make fires for heat (in the fireplace or wood stove) and the chopped wood would be provided. They would have basic groceries to make meals. Firewood and groceries would be delivered by the councilor, once a day/ or every other day. No social media. This would give then time to reflect on themselves, without outside influences. They would be rewarded with treats for doing certain simple tasks- task not completed - no reward. Once a week they would meet in group session - in a hall of some kind, to vent their frustrations, and have things in common. The kicker is in the time they are there they would get a paycheck-- once in the middle telling them what tasks they did or didn't do-- then the same at the end. By splitting it up they would want the money so if they did nothing in the first 1/2 they might try to do them in the second. And they might have a little "starting out money" and a sense of accomplishment. I don't know I'm just spit balling- trying to think of ways to help screwed up kids with un ralistic expectations of the world.
I'm out of ideas for troubled teens.. I think they just have to see reality, to start to understand it.
Ok after a couple of years I think I see the faults in Teens now a days-- Excuses! They have a trigger word for every single thing they can perceive-- A parent was talking about their kid having PTSD from a water fountain. How can you get stressed by a water fountain? all the kids want to say nowadays is I have.. Anxiety, Stress, Trama, or I'm offended by, I can't take it.... What ever happened to If you don't like something-- Move on? If someone innocently calls you a pronoun (oh don't get me started on that btw) MOVE ON.
My neighbor came over the other day while I was changing spark plugs on my pickup and told me that the front tire on my Jeep was flat. It took over a week for it to go down. I bet when I laid it on its side, I forced dirt between the rim and tire. Maybe?
Mandatory Peace Corps for high schoolers. Send them to another country where they don’t speak English. After 2 years they’ll return appreciating life in the US.

Sounds good to me I spent 10 years in Italy and didn't speak Italian- some times it was hard
All of my thoughts are a little weird today. Political thoughts, business thoughts, million dollar ideas-- None of those - just sideways weird thoughts like of all the flooding in the Southern US - why am I seeing them rescuing Dolphins-- I mean can't dolphins swim? I saw a video of a baby monkey with a catfish on its arm- why didn't the videographer help the monkey instead of just filming? Its a good thing I'm not a cop I would taze 99% of the people who lipped off. why do we make it so comfortable for criminals, but our military has it so rough (In places). Since most larger cities have crap financials why do we try and emulate that through the whole country? Unrealized gains seems weird to tax. Why does Walmart have Christmas stuff out on the first of October? Why did they design my camper with only 3 jacks? It makes it wobbly.
