Does the Sync rep still hang here? Its been a few years since I've seen her. I have a Sync 4 issue in my 2022. I have a 256 Gb USB drive filled with MP3 music that I ripped myself from LPs and CDs over the years. The Sync 4 will read it all in and index it. This is awesome because the Sync in my 2011 could barely handle 32 gb. Anyway, it seems to lose the index sporadically and has to reload the index and voice commands, usually after it sits overnight. Is this a known issue? I've master reset it but it still happens sporadically. Its good for a trip once it loads itself, and it could be good for a day or two or three, then all of a sudden switching to USB it needs to reload everything. Curious if anyone knows if there is a fix out there or if this is just the way it is. There is no rhyme or reason that I could tell that causes it.Thank you.

If I had to guess I would think that it re-indexes at startup if the existing index is too old. Too old could be measured in hours or days since created, last accessed, or changed.
I know it isn't definitive help but it may lead you to better understand why it does what it does. If that is the case you may be able to trick it by putting a future date stamp on the index.
I had considered this. I am a programmer for more than four decades and while this makes sense, I’d like a definitive answer from Ford/Sync. Twice today it did it to me when starting the truck. ‘Please wait while Sync creates voice commands’ and then ‘Please wait while it downloads data’ (or whatever the phrase is). After 15 minutes or so it is ready, but is my system faulty or is this normal? Nothing changes on the USB stick. I supposedly have the latest update of all of the software in there (according to the settings/update) but it’s annoying. One caveat is the album I had playing at shut down continues playing while it’s doing its voice and reindex, but is that normal? And ultimately… is the 256 gig collection causing that? I’m thinking not because it does it with 32 gig, which it should easily handle because the sync 1 in my 2011 did as it never reindexed.
I didn't. Ford is clueless and my service guy says Ford has to work be involved, as its out of their hands. Problem still persists. Sometimes its good for a couple days, and other times it acts up. No rhyme or reason for it.

Well that sucks. I have looked for some forums that cover Sync 4 in more detail but no luck so far.
I’m definitely curious if you will experience the same thing. I’m considering cutting the size of the drive and the amount of music on it to see if happens with a smaller set but haven’t done it yet.
I think the issue may be related to my WIFI connection. I was just in Florida for a month with the truck and didn’t experience any issues. Once I got home and the truck connected to my home WIFI the issue started again.
