Hmm..
Lets see it from the perspective of after the forum is created( if it isn't so already):

Some who have van questions that are only specific to vans may get some answers. Those who have questions about their vans that have to do with engines, transmissions, and other machine related questions that are shared with trucks( the most popular vehicle sold) will get only van forum members that look at the posts, and fewer will reply.
It also goes the other way. The truck forum readers can benefit from many van readers who have gotten under the hood of their vans as well.
It is up to all concerned to figure out which percentage of our questions are only related to vans or if their inquiries merge with the truck world, and then decide for a van only forum. The 300 I6 resides in both vans as well as trucks. Where will you go if you need to know how to adjust the timing. For every van person that helps there are perhaps ten truck people.
IMHO, another forum is not necessary; sometimes less is more (more readers).
If a van forum is needed to romanticize about our vans , I am all for it, but call it: Van Romantics not Mechs

It was slated as a way to discuss modification to the interior and body more than a technincal forum, where else would you go if you wanted to find out how to make a functional hood scoop using your stock airbox? (an idea I am currently working on.)

You're right!
If there is a van forum you go to that, if there isn't you add the word van in the topic question.
In the later a knowledgeable truck person may be able to help as well.

"Those who have questions about their vans that have to do with engines, transmissions, and other machine related questions" will go to the engine, transmission, etc. forum to get the answer, those who have van questions will go to the van forum. Adding a van forum doesn't restrict them from viewing the truck forum if they wish, but it gives them a place to go for van specific items!!!

Guess I'm missing out on something, vanmancan. What is romantic about a van? Except for that little item, all the viewpoints on this topic make sense. I'm not 100% sure it's a good idea to have a separate forum, but I'd like to try it out and see what develops.

The engine/tranny/axle (major parts of vehicle) posts all belong in their own respective forum, same as the trucks. Those questions do not belong in the 87-96 forum. The van forum will just be for discussing van stuff other then those main parts. It's up to the van people what they want to talk about. We'll try it out and see how it works I guess, doesn't hurt to try it right?

It was just a dissenting opinion, driven by the idea that it might not be as beneficial as the current setup that I was just getting comfortable with , (MustangGT221 asked for opinions on the creation of the forum).
But it never hurts to try something new.

Case in point

I was actually surprised when I couldn't find a specific VAN section on FTE. I posted a question the other day about the E350 Super duty Van on the Super Duty Truck section just because there isn't another section to post on.

As far as number of vehicles, I know that I see many more E series Ford Vans than I do Excursions, yet the Ex has it's own section.

My vote is for a VAN forum.

AMEN to needing a van forum

I just left a lengthy post tied to another thread--I cannot even find it now, so would love to see an area devoted strictly to vans. I have a PS E350 and there are just enough differences mechanically that it makes sense.
Thanks.

I just wants answers I dont care where it is posted as long as you can find them. I just don't know what happened to my thread. I am open to anything aslong as I get my e150 fixed:confuse

Me and my E350 Super Duty 7.3PSD Van are left out in the woods!
A Diesel / Van forum would be great!

I have an urgent need for E300 standard steering information, that dam bell crank is giving me grief. I want to find a spare to rebuild and get to know on the bench. Anything, pics, part numbers advice
