I too like Franklin have changed my steering gear and the steering wheel is off a bit. Been this way since 2018 and my alignment is correct . I have pulled other steering wheels Mopar-International used certain type pullers for each. Puller required for our ford trucks ? TR

Yes. Here's my simple homemade version. Works like a champ. See post #1310 in this long thread:

Make sure to leave the nut loosely installed so the wheel doesn't fly off when it breaks free.

My 86 is a base level work truck and doesn't have a tilt wheel, maybe that's the difference. I use a harmonic balancer puller to pull my steering wheel, works great.

My only comment on this is when I used a gear puller to remove the wheel on my 86 when I was 17 (1998) I basically ruined the stock wheel trying to get it off it was on so tight.

Harmonic balancer puller works for this. You may need to buy some new bolts, I think they are metric threads in the wheel to pull with.

On my ‘84, the holes in the steering wheel were threaded 5/16”-24.

I changed the steering box on my 89 when the bottom seal blew out. Everything was centered and good, all I did was change the steering box, and after that my steering wheel was off. It drove fine afterward, so all I did was pull the wheel off and set it to the correct position and stuck it back on. No problems so far.
I hate that if he’s left us. I loved that guy. Most knowledgeable human on the planet on Ford trucks. I’ll damn sure miss him !!!
