Finding a Rear Window for replacement
From my searching the only one I can find is in Colorado Springs and nobody will accept shipping it from there. They are all to worried about UPS breaking it.
I have been told over and over that it is a "Vender item" and is on back order from them. Every week they push the next shipping date off again.
I don't know what the hell I am going to do?? Looks like I have to drive to CS to get my truck fixed. How wants to do that this time of year or pay for that much fuel to get there and back.
Does anyone have any ideas??
TIA
We have no idea what year truck you have, whether or not you have a solid or sliding rear rear window, and if sliding, whether or not the slider is powered or manual, and in any case, if equipped with a rear defrost circuit or not. All of these factors make a difference, and without knowing the facts of your truck, we have no idea.
Assuming that you have a 1999-2016 Super Duty, model year still makes a difference, due to earlier models being gasket set, and later models being urethane sealant set. For a leak free installation, the gasket should be changed with the glass, as the feathering glands that keep the water out of the cab deteriorate with age and with removal. All it takes is one little nick in one of the feathering seal layers to cause a leak that rolls water into the cab corners, under the C pillars, out of sight.
Solid glass backlights (without a moveable window) can list for higher NAGI prices than sliders. It's a bigger sheet of glass.
A leading supplier of aftermarket windows is CR Laurence, and CR Laurence was the OEM supplier to Ford for the original Super Duty Power Sliding rear cab window.
CarLite is known as the Ford OEM brand of glass. Back when Ford created and spun off supplier subsidiaries like Visteon, Carlite was under the umbrella of Zeledyne, but Zeledyne sold the Carlite brand (and glass manufacturing plants) to a Japanese automotive glass company called Carlex, in a deal which Ford helped facilitate.
Carlex has two sides to their current automotive glass business, OEM (engineering / manufacturing / supply) and Replacement ( collision repair ). Since Carlex is in the Ford glass manufacturing business, then seeking Carlex glass as replacements presents a better bet of getting OEM quality glass.

I am thinking that is has to be some overseas problem since it has taken so long.
At this point I am not picky as long as it works like the original one.
Thanks
Thanks for the help though
