Adding a sliding rear window

I have a 2009 F150 Super Cab work truck with a solid glass rear window. I need to replace it with a sliding rear window, manual is fine. Ford lists part number 9L3Z-15422B30-A for $285.00. I called a glass shop and they quoted me $500.00 just for the rear sliding window and $100.00 to put it in. The installation charge seems very reasonable but the sliding window is too much.

Anybody have any experience with different brands?

I'm actually in the auto glass biz so will say the Ford part is the better way to go. While I've not yet installed or replaced a slider in your year they're typically not that tough to do.

Most likely your glass shop is "front loading" the final cost, making most of their profit on the part and not really charging for the actual installation labor. I'd do this my own self----its been this way since I began in 1988.

I'd try finding a trade discount for the OEM part but get an exact quote with a good local glass shop for installing a customer supplied part before hand.

That's my suggestion anyway.
