Hey guys, while scavaging the yards I stumbled across a rolled '99 F-250 LD with the original 4R100 still in it. The engine is gone, but I assume it was a 5.4.
Can you swap one into an F-150 with the 4.6?? Or would I have to get the beefier rear end to go with it?
This swap will not work in any conventional sense. Ford has never mated the 4R100 to the 4.6L engine. I don't think you can even custom program the computer to run a 4.6L with a 4R100 transmission.
In my opinion, the 4R70W does well with the 4.6L. If you need the transmission to be a bit tougher, a transmission builder could help.
