swap 534 for a 385 engine
I have 1981 L900 with a SD 534 ,but I feel swapping in a 429/460 can make the same power,get better gas mileage ,and lose 400 lbs .I was amazed the 534 got 5 mpg on the 300 mile trip home .I can't leave well enough alone ,and want to swap in a ford 385 motor .I mite have a lead on a 429 truck motor and 5 speed out of a 85 f700 for $2k,with 15k miles .or should I swap in a low miles 460 ,which I see some for $1k .I know it would be alot easier to swap in a already mated engine and transmission .

You might save a little gas, but you will not save money.
