I have a 2017 F 250 with a 6.7 liter diesel and a 6r140 6 speed automatic transmission and have the following problem. I am wondering if anyone else has had issues with the transmission range sensor and found these error codes P1702:00-68, P1921:00-28 . I was on the road with cruise control on and had the transmission down shift without any change in the the cruise control setting. At the same time the transmission indication on the dash went away. No indication of what gear the transmission was in nor was D highlighted on the dash indication. DTC also had codes for the SODR & SODL modules (code U0402:-28). The two TCM codes lead me to believe the problem is with the transmission range sensor inside the transmission. Today after parking the truck and returning to rest
art it it would not start, When the starter button was pressed while depressing the brake nothing happened. I shifted to neutral and tried that with the same result. Putting the shifter back to park and still did not start. I released the break in neutral and let the truck roll a few inches and put it back in park. Put the transmission back in park and the truck started.
Any thoughts or suggestion would be appreciated. I think that the problem is a bad TRS and am having a real hard time finding the TRS on line too.
May not be the range sensor itself, it could very well be an issue with the power supply to it like a bad connector or wire or circuit with another failing component causing the issue. You'd have to look at how the range sensor gets power and start tracing and testing and see where you might have the voltage issue. I would bet more on this scenario as much as a failed range sensor inside the trans which would be less likely. Find a good diagnostics guy or you might get taken to the cleaners.
