I've done about everything suggested except sell the truck. Selling the truck isn't an option, quoting the wife. Called Ford and registered a complaint. I'm supposed to get a call from someone at Ford. We'll see if that happens.
In the mean time, have an appointment at my dealer and the truck is drivable. Just have to do old school towing and parking. Builds skills.
Will follow-up with the results...
I had good experience calling Ford. Don't look at it as a complaint or complaining. Instead, ask for help resolving you matter. I was pretty upset with my dealer and it was them who said to escalate the matter to that 800 number. The person I dealt with followed through with everything she said she'd do, I returned to the dealership and, while I had a much simpler issue than you, things got better.
Good luck. I hope all this works out for you quickly.
I have a 2022 F-350 with 7k miles on it and it's 10 months old. The center console screen has gone black so none of the functionality on that cluster works including the connected services. The bad part is that every dealership in a 20-mile radius is booked out 3 months for service. Clearly, quality isn't job one at Ford. While this is covered under warranty, it does make me nervous about "what else?".
My question to the forum: Has anyone else seen this issue with the 2022's and how long did it take the dealership to fix the problem?
Don’t take my questions as taking down to anyone. Just didn’t see two ideas that were mentioned but maybe they were you could also check
1) if I’m not mistaken there is a button under the screen that will turn the screen fully off. Maybe that button was hit on accident and just have to push it again ?
2) did you try resetting the screen? I believe you hold down the audio power button and the play(or the forward button ) at the same time. This resets the screen in case it ever freezes ect.
again you probably have tried those already I just didn’t read anything saying you have tried it. Hope you get it fixed soon !
The issue I had with my 2022 12" screen ended up being loose connectors.
Ford's instruction to my dealer was reflash it and send it out. Luckily, the service manager is an acquaintance, he had the tech pull it apart and unplug and replug all the related connections to the display. It's been more than a year and no problem since.
I'm thinking it's something similar. Going to pull the fuses today and see if that makes a difference. I have done a complete reset a couple of times and that doesn't work for long.
Thank!
Is the screen completely de-energized or is it a black lit screen like it has lost data output?
I agree on checking the basics like hard reset methods and connector continuity.
I think I fixed the problem. We'll see if it's long term or comes back.
I pulled fuse 15 in the kickbox fuse panel (thank you @Lou Braun) and that lit the panel up again.
Then I did a screen reset, holding power and fast forward until the screen blinked and reset itself (thank you @Oafy44)
Drove the truck and turned it off. [That's when the screen goes off and doesn't come back on (black) when I start the truck]
Restarted the truck and the screen came back on. It's come back on every time I started the truck so far!
I think the screen reset did the trick. BUT that still makes me a bit uncomfortable that this problem is a software issue and will show up again.
After talking to the Ford people at the 1-800 number (yes, they called me back!), they suggested that I keep my dealer appointment and have the head unit reflashed with the latest software. My dealership service advisor concurred that a reflash would be the first step to see if the problem reoccurs.
Thank you to everyone who provided ideas about how to troubleshoot the issue!!

great to here. It’s technically a “computer” so occasionally you will get something crazy and reset. But now that you know how to do it it works fast , you can reset during driving too.
@Oafy44 This is one of those little tips that is very useful to know about. Too bad Ford doesn't put this in the owner's manual or an FAQ guide. It could save them a lot of customer anguish and create goodwill. AND keeps owners from selling their Super Dutys and buying the competition!!
Knock on wood but no issues with my '22 as I close in on 50k miles... Mine was a first week dealer stock order build with a blue WS. I had heard that the first run of new trucks get additional scrutiny, I am hoping that has contributed to my good luck.
Hopefully the covid trucks do not end up being problematic. Doesn't seem like they are any worse but you always get some faults on production vehicles. What is undoubtedly worse is dealer service, or Fords ability to support dealer service, or some combination because although many used to revile dealer service, I do not think anybody looks forward to and gets good dealer service like it should be anymore...
At my house the truck went from the alternate to the first choice. For many years my wife had an efficient smaller car we would road trip in. When the car was replaced with the Jeep, the truck became the better travel choice despite the economy penalty. I ran almost exactly 40k the first year,.
Well, the fix to the black center screen lasted a week plus a few days. This weekend the screen went black again. No amount of fuse pulling, or resets has made a difference. It's black and stays that way. It's been cold in the PNW, and the problem seems to occur when the truck is very cold. Heat sensitive component maybe? WAG!!
Fortunately, the truck goes into the dealer service tomorrow morning early. I've talked to them again, and the 1-800 Ford people, so we'll see what happens. I'll get back to the thread once I have an answer from service.
