Team, looking for any tips as I prepare to install a new rubber floor mat from LMC in my 1966 F100. I have the original column shift 3 speed so no worries about working around a floor shift. Some specific questions that I haven't been able to get answered...
- Should I put insulation/sound deadener underneath the mat? I purchased some an "EVA Sound Deadener" mat from LMC that is very thick and asphalt based. It seems like putting that underneath the rubber floor might be too thick. I'm not interested in purchasing a Dynamat type product, although I recognize that would give the best result.
- Should I use adhesive to hold the rubber mat in place? If so, what kind, spray adhesive?
I plan on laying the mat in the sun to warm up and become more pliable but I'm open to any other advice, tips, or experiences...thanks!

If I remember correctly when I pulled mine out. It was just laid in with nothing under it and not glued down. If I was going to do anything I would fill in the indentations in the floor with a sound deadener the thickness or close to so that the mat did not conform to the indentations and remained flat. I know mine showed every indentation from the factory untill I removed it for restoration. I put carpet in its place
CMJacko,
Are you going to lay down any rust proofing beneath the rubber mat? I'd be tempted to spray some rubberized rust proofing down, let it dry real good then lay the rubber mat in....
That's a good idea BarnieTrk, I've read about folks using a bedliner type material but hadn't even thought about a rustproofing type spray. I will investigate, thanks again!
