Antenna wire?

So I’m finally getting around to fixing my radio antenna. Can anyone confirm that the wire has plugs on both the antenna end and the back of radio plug? I can’t tell if the wire has been broken off the antenna or it’s just been unplugged. I haven’t located the wire under dash yet, so I’ll have to remove the radio to see if anything is plugged into the back of it. Just trying to figure out what I need to do or buy.

On my 2005 Ex, the antenna wire is orange and it runs behind the passenger air bag to the radio. You can barely see it or get to it from the glove compartment. It does unplug easily from the radio, so check it there. It is just a standard Motorola male connector. Thanks, do you know if it plugs into the antenna base too? I’ve always seen the wire be hard wired into antenna base. Never seen one with a plug into the base.

I may be no help regarding the antenna end connector but from your photo it looks like a male Motorola connector. But that is just a guess. Tried looking it up in the Wiring Diagrams manual but the antenna is not shown there.

Yeah me too. If it does indeed plug into antenna base, that is a bad design. That is why I’m wondering if I should get a whole new antenna that is hard wired from the base that then plugs into back of radio.

Thanks for trying to help👍

Well, these may be of no help, but added information on the installation/removal of the antenna (from the Workshop manual).

Actually that does. It indicates that the antenna is screwed into the base. Thanks a bunch for those pictures.👍👍👍

Update:

I got it fixed. I removed radio and confirmed it was plugged in. Orange wire it is. Mine actually plugs into the antenna base too. I had to fish the wire through a 1” hole in passenger footwell behind trim piece, up the inside fender well. My screw holes the antenna mount were stripped out. So I used some sheet metal screws 2 sizes larger and they snugged up the base. Everything is all good now. It’s a very fiddly job. Make sure and be careful on the cowl, that plastic breaks easily.
