Changing Keyless entry code

I just bought a 2000 Excursion limited and it did not come with an owners manual. I will order one, but can anyone tell me the procedure to change the keyless entry code ? I know on my former expedition, there was a procedure using the key.

Thanks ! I love this truck.

If I understand correctly, you'll need to go to the dealer to have it done

You can change it yourself as long as you have the Factory code at hand.

1. Enter factory set code.
2. Press the 1/2 button within 5 seconds of performing step 1.
3. Enter your new 5 digit code. Must enter each digit within 5 seconds of the previous one.

The new code does not replace the original factory code.

To erase your personal code:

1. Enter the Factory code.
2. Press the 1/2 button within 5 seconds of performing step 1.
3. Within 5 seconds of performing step 2, press and hold the 1/2 button for 2 seconds.

Regards,

Joe

Dawg gone it, valvestud beat me to it. I learned this over at the tauruscarclub.com. It is nice to stay with the Ford family. One personalized code (the wife's number) for the Taurus and the Excursion. I was concerned that the kids could get in the car and lock them selves in. They can, but now we can get them out no matter what

Thanks for the help ! Worked like a champ. I was able to get the factory code from the dealer ( for free ) and put a new code in for myself.
