I have a 1987 F150, C6 transmission used with a snowplow. I have transmission fluid blowing out the vent pipe of the transfer case. Can transmission fluid come out of the transfer case into the transmission? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Can transmission fluid come out of the transfer case into the transmission?
Do you mean can transmission fluid come out of the transmission into the transfer case?
If so, I think the answer is yes. Check your transmission fluid level. Is it very much low? If it is, and there is no other obvious leak, you know where it has to be going.
Isn't there a center seal or something on the torque convertor!
How did the torque converter get installed on the rear of the transmission?
I suppose it could if the seal on the transmission output shaft failed? There is only a large paper gasket between the two housings. Are you sure it isn’t coming out of the trans vent and running back to the transfer case?
