Does anyone know how I can find current title of this vin?
This was my dads old 92 F250. He died in 2000 and I came across an old registration card while cleaning out my moms basement. Figure it would be fun to try to find it and buy it if it still exists.
i have a 75 F100 and would be thrilled to see the old 92. He was a finish carpenter and built in a custom set of tool drawers in the bed and had a lumber rack as well.
In nebraska if you have the VIN you go to the state DMV and tell them it's to search our legal remedy or something like that. They can provide information from the title. Then you can go from there. Facebook and the internet make this much easier than it used to be.
This used to be easier, but with privacy issues today, I don't think you'll be able to legally find a current owner of the truck.
Best bet is if you have a friend in law enforcement who could look up the VIN to see who the registered owner is.
Otherwise, I think the only thing you can do is to do a VIN search that may show whether or not it is currently registered and/or titled. A google search should help you find a company that can do that. I've done it before myself.
you can go to the Bureau of Automotive Repair website (if in California) and check on the vehicle smog check history... it is a free government service... the search entry information is either the VIN or license plate... i have done this in the past to see the latest smog test results to see if my former vehicles are still on the road... or checking out the smog test history of prospective vehicles for purchase... gives an idea of potentially problem vehicles...
