Is that right? Seems to say that in the build process. Only the non step tailgate can be removed. I have a truck camper and the gate has to come off. My 2016 came off easy but the 2019 comes off hard. Maybe that's it. And or the gate picks itself up now If I saw right?
I doesn't say that the step tailgate isn't removable, just that it states that the non step tailgate is removable.
It does seem to infer that is what they are saying with the omission of that sentence in the description of the step tailgate but I find it hard to believe that the inclusion of steps is going to change how the tailgate is mounted/removed.
I went with that option anyway, couldn't be too difficult to remove the few times a year I need to do so.
I also saw a utube video from a Ford dealer and he said it was not removeable. If your buying thinking you can remove it good luck. It may tough to do.
I saw an option for “removable tailgate” I believe. Look again. Was playing with 450 lariat.
Not a huge fan of the step because it is difficult to load stuff with a forklift.
I don't understand that. On the 17's up it's flat. I have TSC load 2 pallets of Coal in my short box 3 times to get my 6 ton every year with no issues.

The new tailgate with steps are flat surface where as the older tailgates with steps weren't flat and had a hump in them. There shouldn't be issues with loading stuff from the rear.

Ouch. I hope this isn't the case. My 2020 tailgate is removable. I also have a Lance camper and that tailgate must be removable. This is a deal breaker if it is true as far as buying a Super Duty in the future.

I had a 2009 with the tailgate step. The hump is due to the grab handle which was mounted to the tailgate surface and swung up to the vertical position. The hump did not prevent sliding sheet goods into the bed but I can see where the edge on the bottom pallet slats could catch on it. This configuration was useful when carrying sheet goods in the short bed with the tailgate down. The raised grab handle could be used to prevent the sheets from sliding out while driving.
Considering how some of the guide is worded, or mis-spelled, I am betting its a tailgate step delete option. Looks like the step is standard on all trucks now. I highly doubt Ford would make the tailgate totally fixed in place, that would require two different sets of bed sides.
I still believe the step gates can't be taken off for 2023. I saw a video with the gate lifting up it self and that is a new add on and why it can't be taken off the truck.

Are you saying that maybe the torsion bar gate lift helper thingy will lose it's pre-load if taken out of it's stops.
Since the F-150 already has the power open and close tailgate, you might try asking about removal in the F-150 forum section. I wouldn't expect the new Super Duty power open/close tailgate to function any different.
The 22 F-150 OM can also be viewed and shows the removal procedure for the power tailgate.

Had the exact same thought. Afterall, the 23 SD is nearly identical to the 21 F-150.
