I would also think you can remove that sintered brass filter and run the engine and see how the truck performs. I'm sure it will run fine without it.

Last year my 302EFI was bogging down when I gave it gas, to me it was obvious it was a dirty fuel filter. I replaced the under cab filter and the truck runs great..
I bought a new one because I knew the old one was going to break when removing it. If you can open yours, if your truck has this one, NAPA has a good element for around $12.00
