Never once have I used mine. I just wanted 360 cameras so I was forced to get PTBA. After having the truck a while I don't mind the lane departure that comes with having the steering motor.

So it does or doesn't provide lane keep
assist? Like actively steering to keep you in the between the lines?

No active steering intervention; no lane keep assist. It is just lane departure. The steering wheel pulsates three times when the truck senses you have departed from a lane without indicating turn signals. The pulses are configurable, low, medium, and high.

I run mine on low, the pulses are minimally intrusive while providing good tactile feedback. I don't usually like a bunch of nanny features, however the lane departure is done well in these trucks. No annoying beeping, no steering wheel yanked from your hand, no obnoxious flashing lights on dash. The only feedback is refined pulsing vibrations.

Ditto; I don't think I'll ever install the PTBA box on my trailer.

Key word in the feature is "Alert", Lane-Keeping Alert. No assist whatsoever. It's been available on the Super Duty for awhile, years before the electronic power steering assist was added. When I bought my truck in 2019, the Lane Keep Alert was included with the Adaptive Cruise Control option.

I noticed in the 2023 order guide that some of the higher trims come standard will come standard with a "Lane Keeping System" that now includes "Lane Keeping Aid".
  • Lane-Keeping Aid applies steering torque to direct you back to the center of the lane.
