Got my letter. Not taking it in and letting one of those people mess my truck up. There's like a 0% chance that would work to my trucks benefit.

These days if someone just needs to install four nuts and bolts, they'll finger tight one, strip one, cross thread one, and lose one.

There's even a YT Short out there on PowerStroke Tech Talk where he shows how techs all over the country are running 20E07 incorrectly by simply not reading the mfg instructions and repeatedly choosing the wrong options as they play with the truck's brain. ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS READ AND PRESS BUTTONS ON A COMPUTER AND THEY STILL CAN'T DO THEIR JOB RIGHT.

He also shows repairs where things like the factory engine builders are habitually not installing oil pan gaskets correctly and new trucks are coming in for repairs that would have been averted if the factory was doing their job right, so on and so forth.

There's an article on Fox Business right now about something called "Quiet Quitting" and "Quiet Constraint", where employees are not quite QUITTING outright, but they are not DOING their jobs, or just doing them to the BARE minimum, and everything is just getting screwed up as a result. I read that and thought, hey, not a NEW phenomenon at all. I fired a bookkeeper 15 years ago that confessed PROUDLY to me and my business partner that she hadn't done a single moment of actual data entry into our QuickBooks in over 4 months, whereas her job was to do it daily. Fired a runner a few years before that, that was taking the evening Fed Ex run of packages, and just letting them pile up in his back seat in plain view. Not trying to hide them, just let them pile up, and when confronted, said he was planning on taking them to FedEx someday eventually. Saw a guy a few years before that, that was just walking ALL DAY on a construction site with a single 2x4 on his shoulder. Never did a single thing. Even on the government work side, I personally know an officer that hides behind a hardware store and streams Netflix or plays pokemon all shift, won't respond to ANY call for service in his area, and only cruises over to the City park twice a shift to ticket kids violating park curfew. He's 1/4 of the way to full pension, and as long as he keeps NOT doing anything, will most likely get there.

So, just a rant to say, not NO but heck NO. There is no way I am asking someone to Cheetos fat finger my trucks ECM unless I have no other option.

I ended up dropping my 2019 F350 at the dealer to fix an issue with the front drivers seat airbag sensor, wire connector bad. They said that since it's a "safety" component they can't just splice another plug on but have to replace the harness itself.
So they fixed but It and I still got charged 5 bills for labor and part.

Anyway they did the 20E07 refresh update and when I went to pick up the truck the "service advance track" light was on the dash now and the "hill assist not availible" light as well. The tech said sometimes when they do the refresh other error codes show up for no reason. Great answer.
So he refreshed it all again and now dash is clear of any codes, for now.

Sorry for the long story but the point I wanted to make is the service rep gave me a he called it a "golden ticket" ( ford emission recall-proof of correction) that I will have to send in when I renew my registration otherwise you can't get it.
This is in Cali, fu---n figures.

Please follow up on how the truck runs after some time with the update.

The dealership did it on my 2019 without my consent. Truck was in to have windshield replaced and they installed that update. I lost 1.5 mpg, I was pissed they would not revert it back. Now when I take my truck in I’m very explicit that nothing gets updated without my approval.

Mine was done back in May and no proof of recall was given other than an invoice stating it was performed along with the other service my truck was in for.. Not do for a smog until May 2023 so we'll see what happens, but I'm not expecting to have to provide any sort of proof.

Only driven 10 miles or so but I normally get about 14mpg around town. We'll see how the next couple of weeks go. I reset my trip and avg mpg on the dash I'll check them in a few weeks.

Here's a pic of the "golden ticket" the service guy was pretty adamant about it. Who know's maybe they get a kickback or something from the state.

At the bottom it says to return to the DMV only when required- otherwise retain for your records. WTF?
Maybe something comes up on their computer when the guy does the smog cert for my registration.
Just did my smog and reg this past July.

Everybody’s favorite Super Duty content creator is supposed to be putting out a video on this recall that should put his subs at ease lol.

6 months after having it done on my truck I find it to be a non issue.

Thought I would do a quick follow up on the update for the 20e07 error code on my 19' F350.
Some people stated that their mpg suffered as a result of the update itself.
Been about 5 weeks since I had mine done and today I checked my average mpg and it actually increased by about 1.5mpg.
Used to get about 14 now I seem to be getting almost 16.
Doing the same style driving as before.
Hope it's not a fluke. Diesel around the corner is down to $4.99 per gallon and I feel lucky, how Fu.... up is that.

Well that is very positive. I hope to hear more reports back like this, then I would go get mine done too!

Calif SMOG Testing station are tied directly to the State DMV and a SMOG check "report" is sent typically at the time your test is completed, tho some stations will delay and do a batch sending at the end of their day.
