Issue with rear rotors

2000 F 350, extended cab, 7.3 diesel, dually, 6 speed. 102K miles
Got the truck a couple of weeks ago.
Replacing parking brakes since they didn't work. Decided to replace calipers, pads, and rotors due to wear.
Got the drivers side done w/o significant issues.
Doing the passenger side now. Rotor came off without issues. New bearings and rear seal.
Now I can't get the rotor in the axle stub. It appears that the park brakes are too large to fit inside the hub.
I've got the brakes down to the smallest diameter and just can't get the hub to slide on.
Both left and right hubs are identical. The brake shoes came out of the same box.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Bruce

Well, if you have the old parts, see if the old hub will go back on, if it does then there's something different about the new hub. If it doesn't then I'd say you probably have a problem with the way the E-brake is installed on that side.

The only thing I've noticed is that the shoes have a bit more brake material than the ones I took off. The inside of the drums measured within a few thousandth of each other. It will "just almost" go on. One thing I'll check when I get back to the shop is the diameter of the inner and outer surface of the drum. It appears to be catching on the shoes as I attempt to get it on.

I’ve seen aftermarket rotors with incorrect ID for the brake shoes. Had an AutoZone where every one of them was bad (for a Honda). O’Reilly’s had a different manufacturer with the correct dimension.

You must measure and compare it to the old rotor. If the shoes are all the way in (and installed correctly) then you have a bad/incorrect rotor.
