87 ranger starting problems HELP!

I have a 1987 Ford ranger XLT that recentley has been giving me a hard time starting. When I turn the key it just clicks, if i keep clicking the key really fast it turns over and starts but that cant be good for the starter. anyone know whats wrong or have any suggestions?

Sounds like a classic case of a starter solenoid going bad. Not sure if you can replace just that module if you need to replacethe whole starter.

Yes you just replace the solenoid, it's on the passenger side in the middle of the apron. Be sure you disconnect battery first. That should be your problem solved, if not it could be a ground problem; as these trucks are common for that.

wasn't sure about the solenoid...sometimes its just a single unit...yeah ground cable could do that...check all the grounding cables. Specially the one that connects the battery to the motor.
