Fuel Problems.... Just purchased a 88 F250 with a 460. Starts and runs fine, but when the engine gets warmed up it sputters when i try to accelerate. Any ideas?
I changed the fuel filter - didn't help. Could it be the pressure regulator?
You can check the regulator by removing the vacuum line and see if any gas is present. If it is, then the regulator is bad.
I have seen this before when it acts like it is starving for fuel and it is actually the pick-up coil in the distributor going bad. After the truck cools for a bit, it will run fine until it gets hot again.

You were right Jimmy - I changed the distributer cap, pick-up coil, plugs, and wires and it's running great! - drinks like a camel...the ails of a 460!
Thanks a ton!
