Many codes.........

Well fellows I need some assistance as your about to see. Yesterday my wife called and said the engine light came on. I asked if anything weird was happening and she stated it used more gas than usual. I had autozone pull the codes then I did the code test to see if they matched and they did and here is what I came up with:

52- power steering pressure switch
22- map sensor
25- knock sensor
13- low rpm test
32- egr valve
33- egr valve

I find it odd that all of these popped up at once and would like to know if there is something that is common to each that might be the problem. I am clueless at this point, wanna talk carbs we can wanna talk general efi setup we can, as to what the he*l I should do with these codes I am clueless. So any ideas and a good place to start would be appreciated. I noticed a faint grinding noise from the passenger side above the alternator but below the intake is that a malfuntioning emissions valve or something. Oh well any thoughts appreciated, later

Howdy jwtaylor,
52- power steering pressure switch
22- map sensor
25- knock sensor
13- low rpm test
32- egr valve
33- egr valve
OK...#52 > was not cycled during the Engine Running (R) testing.

#22 + #25 > may change when you take care of other codes.

#13 > Disassemble, inspect + clean Idle Air Control (IAC) + Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).

#32 +#33 > First check to see if your EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) is operating; vacuum to EGR diaphram.
If it's working disassemble, inspect + clean EGR; to clean pintle + check EGR Positon (EVP) sensor; movable.

These answers will help you. I went through the same crapola w/
my beastie!

Tell me the outcome!

Well I said I would let you know and I shall. I tested the sensors with a multimeter. Found one test on the evp sensor to show no resisitance when it should have shown 100 or a little more. I replaced the sensor and no codes showed up during the next test. So it appears it is good I am gonna drive it some tomorrow and make sure. Food for thought I spoke to the parts person (small shop, owner is one of two employees and he knows what he is talking about not your local autozoo advisor) and he said that egr sensor replacement is comon on the 4.9 engine, good to know I guess. Appreciate your help

Hi jwtaylor,

So all you did was test + replace your sensors?
To me, this don't add up!
