Rare?

I'm usually in the Slicks forum, but I ran across this on Craigslist. Don't know if it's the real deal.

I think it can be decoded in the serial number. If one is offered. I would be sure you can register in your state if interested. Some states don't reciprocate with others and may need to get bonded title. It can be a mess sometimes.

It would make a nice rolling ad for a public facing business with all that panel space. One concern that I would have is its similarity with the Ford 1963-64 unibody trucks. Some of those unibody trucks had problems with torsional forces causing doors to stick or pop open and possibly other things. Unlike the much shorter Bronco which had rubber body mounts throughout, the back half of the unibody was bolted directly to the frame the same as trucks with separate beds.

I thought they all had side windows? Maybe the windows were covered up on this one?

I bet is was or does have a Mexican or South America title, it is an outside the US made vehicle. Cool for sure, not 19.500 cool IMO.

The real question is how it got imported and titled. Better make sure the VIN on the title matches the frame.

Importation can be a real pain if the truck did not meet DOT specs for glass, brakes, emissions, safety etc.

There's been at least one other on here. I'll try to search it out tomorrow.

Sure looks like the same truck. I'm certain that you're correct about the title. A lot of vehicles leave the US, and very few are worth bringing here.

It's been years, but I saw a lot of those in Panama, and Honduras. Some had side windows, some didn't. And I seem to remember that some had barn doors, and some were either tailgated or single swinging door. It's been over a couple of decades, so I may be wrong about that part. I thought they were customs at first, but they were apparently factory made, for off US soil only sale. With the current astronomical amount of Central American's coming into the US, I imagine we'll be seeing more of them.

I never saw a 4WD version. But I sure would love to have one. I'd definitely do a 4WD build on it.
