Anyone out there have any experience with aftermarket replacement tanks like from AeroTanks? My 94 F150 only has a single 18.7g tank. I drive 130 miles a day to work and back. So, I'm refueling every couple days!!! I'd like to extend my range. I saw an ad for the AeroTanks that listed a 45g replacement tank. That would be nice. Maybe I could fix my fuel gage error while I'm at it?
I just purchased a used 1989 F250 that has a 40 gallon and a stock 18.2 gallon for a total of 58.2 gallon capacity. I'm not sure of the brand but can crawl under there in the next couple of days and let you know (I have a school board meeting tonight). Since you currently only have one tank...is it in the rear near the spare tire? The large tanks run the length of the driveline on one side and would need a seperate fueling door, switches, fuel pump, etc. Deen
P.S. Prepare for a heart attack at the gas pumps when you fill up...my average tab runs $75.
Hi Nick,
I have a 44 gal. from a company called Northwest Metal Products @ (503)-359-4427, mine replaced the stock tank in the rear. The tank came with new straps, sender, filter and hose/clamps(not the main fill hose though) and was an easy bolt-in. It's holding up very well and is made from heavy gauge steel with baffles/supports. If I had a spare in the stock location this would have had to be relocated to the bed. Cost for mine was in the $350 range plus shipping from Ca. to Pa.(about 25 bucks I think). It might be with a phone call just to check out your options. Chuck P.
