Hadn't considered that. Never been in this spot before. I just have a big dis-trust for insurance adjusters !!

I get that---I have that same gut feeling, was developed when I owned a body shop. The "public face" they presented while on duty was one thing, their real selves quite another after a few beers.

They tend to have a lot more latitude than they claim, have an upper limit they have to work within but those that create a settlement below that are rewarded in some way. If you have a lot of facts they can use as a reason for their final settlement they're happy to get any pending claim closed up.
