LMC Dash Pad

To all you that have purchased the LMC pad.
How did it fit, Quality???
Was the vinyl a heavy material.
over all,, how is it holding up..

OR is there a better place to purchase??
Not decided if I will repair and cover mine or buy the LMC.
Or would you pay the extra 100.00 for a DC Pad?
Any input will be helpful.
Thank you,
Alex

I would vote for DC, because LMC would be my last place to buy one. Just know that getting to all the nuts can be quite a job, you need to remove the dash bezel and instrument cluster. Glove box liner and if you have a/c, the duct work on the passenger side. And probably the far passenger side duct adjustable fins and maybe the box they go in. And if you can not reach the middle ones by going in the glove box and take a hard left, then the radio and environmental control mount bracket will also need to come out. Also the press cut edges of the glove box hole can be sharp. Put a few pieced of blur painter tape on them.

I bought a LMC dash pad. Wouldn’t do it again. It’s got a slight hump on the passenger side. Just came like that. Also it’s short on the corners. It’s not as long as the stock one.

What is DC? Never heard of them. Is it Dennis Carpenter?

Yes, DC is Dennis Carpenter.
Also, look at National Parts Depot. https://www.npdlink.com/1948-1979-fo...YaApWGEALw_wcB
They sell two different pads. One is $280 (probably foreign made). The other is $420, made with original Ford tooling. I was warned against the cheaper one, but the dash pad just isn't $420 worth of important to me. I'd drive the truck with no dash pad. Anyway, I bought the cheaper one, and it was a good decision for a change. It has ten threaded studs, instead of the eight studs the factory pad had. All the studs lined up with existing factory holes. I had no issues with installation. And the pad looks good.

Thank you guys for the input.

Rich, I should have stated that I have the pad off as the whole inside is apart,
that is why I was asking about the pad as it would be such a PITA to have to change it later.

Ranger, I to am not impressed with the ford tooling for the pad. Just want a nice one like yours.

Again thank you all for the input..

If you're getting a colored pad (other than black), I'd call and ask if it's painted, which I believe it will be. I'd do without before I bought a painted dash pad or door panel.

And since your interior is apart, definitely install the pad on the dash while everything is apart.

I have a 1984 150 and purchased the pad from LMC but did not like at all! and just didn't seem to fit or look right so I just removed the dash and paid $194. to have it reupholster.

BLK For 73-79 Ford Truck F100 F150 F250 F350 Bronco Complete Dash pad Dash Cover

I ordered one of these for $125. ^^^^^^^^^

The original dash pad.

Looks great!!

It doesn't fit very well. But then what do you expect for $125?
I didn't know it wasn't going to fit perfectly when I bought it.

I looked at others and they were $400+.

I'm not restoring my truck, just "resurrecting" it.

It doesn't bother me but I'm sure it is totally unacceptable to most.
I don't look at it and think, "I should have spent another $275 and bought a better one.

I really like my black carpet dash cover, held on with a couple points velcro, covers from windshiel rubber to rear edge of dash "pad" plus 1/4", easy to clean if needed. No glare reflecting in my windshield, I have one in each vehicle and on the rear package shelf of 3 that have package sheves. I've been using them since in the '80s.

These dash pads were initially promoted as a safety feature. Wearing only lap belts, passengers in an accident might easily strike their heads on a metal dash board and receive serious injury. So those with more sophisticated safety restraints might want to consider alternatives. Thoughts on that?

Thanks Old Guy. It's all back together now. That pic was from the marathon upgrade session a few months ago. Hydroboost, new wiring harness, new gauges, all new springs, and some other small changes. Getting the truck ready to install the 502" gasoline vaporizer.
