One of the previous owners of my truck, I know three of them, put the trailer brake controller in a bad spot where the brake pedal sometimes gets caught on the wiring. I could zip tie it out of the way or I could put the brake controller in a better spot. Short video where mine is.

Also, the one on my truck currently appears to be a cheaper one. Most of the trailers that I use don't have brakes but the one I'm about to buy does. So I want to make sure I have a good brake controller mounted in a nicer spot. Is the one I have okay or should I buy a new one? If so where should I put it?
The prodigy P3 looks like a good controller but I didn't really want to spend $170. That's Not including the adapter that Sous is talking about. I might move this down the list a little bit. I don't even have my new trailer yet anyway so, I don't really need trailer brakes at this moment and even if I did, the one I have works I'm just worried that it's a cheap one that won't last or might just quit one day. But I probably will move this down the list a little bit. I didn't know they had gotten that pricey. I'm sure it's plenty worth it, just not quite what I expected. Seems we have a pretty clear winter on what controller to get though, and I appreciate everybody's input.
Hmm. The Prodigy P3 sounds popular. I had to look it up. I know what I’m buying if I ever need another!
I’m running the same brand as the P3. It came in the truck when I got it. Maybe an older version of the P3?
Anyhow, I learned (after way too long) that it needed to be level to work properly. Works much better once the instructions are followed. In my defense I didn’t install it. Just thought I’d throw my lesson learned out there in case you want to check the directions for your current controller.
I'm one of the few that is not having good luck with the P3, due to excess vibration where it is mounted. I have not discovered any loose screws or brackets that might contribute to the issue.
If you pick up a P3, ensure you have a stable mounting location. Lower or higher than where I put mine is more stable in my tests.
I’ve got the Tekosha Primus iQ and its a perfect friction fit for the small cubby in the upgraded 05 dash that pairs with the aux switches. It’s a great spot to reach in case you need some brake boost. I cut a hole in the back of the cubby to run wires thru.
