I was working on my truck this weekend and noticed a part on the front of the block that looked like the plastic was disentegrating. I touched it and guess what, it broke into three pieces! ;-) I will replace it but I have no idea what it is. It is located at the top of the block directly over the water pump. Can anybody tell me what is the part circled in red. Thanks!
So if that is a test port for base oil pressure, could one tap into that for a direct pressure reading (like pillar mounted Isso Pro/GloShift)? Could be an option better than the indicator in the cluster that shows mid-gauge with any pressure.
You could connect a display/Gauge to it, of course.
But in my opinion, there are more important parameters to monitor. Without base oil pressure, a 6.0 simply dies.
Temporarily monitor oil temperature to see how the aftermarket sensor correlates to the factory oil temperature. That needs constant flow, so there is a path that dumps to the valve cover.
