Fuse box… vacuum gauge power

Fuse box… vacuum gauge power
I just added a vacuum guage back into the truck and the new one apparently is back lit… would it be good to wire it into a headlight circuit so it only comes on with the lights or should any old unused slot in the fuse box work? Does anyone have any specific suggestions for where to get power for it?

Tap into the existing circuit for the instrument lighting. Your new light will now be adjustable via the dimmer switch:

That for an '81, but your '82 should be similar. You could connect at fuse 17 or at any of the wires downstream of there.
A fuse tap at the fuse panel would be the simplest option.

There are a bunch of wires behind the dash that feed all the lighting. They are all blue with a red stripe. If you have a aftermarket radio,, you may not even be using the blue/red that was over there for the factory radio, so you could use that one if it was easy to get to.
There is also a instrument lighting fuse in the fuse box if you wanted to tap off of that.
