A friend has a 48F2, the rear spring shackles are worn oval, I have a 51 Mercury frame with same? shackles.
The Ford shackle fits on the back of spring,..... and the Mercury shackle fits to the front.
Both use a 21/4inch wide spring....At first glance the shackles look the same..
Question, Would Henry have gone to the expense of different shackles ..Or, are they interchangeable.?...
Thanks for all and any answers.
Geoff.
One would assume there the same, but without seeing just a guess. Since it seems your going to pull the worn out ones out? Are you sure a new busing wont work?

The guy with the Ford tells me his are worn oval, and were past repair. We were wondering if the Mercury shackles were the same,
provided of course that they aren't past their use by date. The only way to find out is to pull 'em and see.
Geoff
I do not understand your question, I have a 51 M3, my rear springs, shackles are on the back, Mine were wore oval, I bought oversize bushings from McMaster Carr and machined the shackles to except them, I did the machine work, perhaps pictures of your parts mite help,??
I am not sure, but perhaps why the folks are not answering may be because they do not understand either, perhaps??
Yup

OOOPs I blew it. I'm going 'round the bend! You're right, the Mercury shackle fits to the rear!
The question was ..Are the Ford and Mercury shackles the same? Will they interchange?
The OP says his are worn beyond repair, Thanks for the lead to Mcmaster Carr
I just looked, and they have dealers in Canada..... I will tell him about your result.
Thanks ...Geoff.
I have a 1951 F-3 and the rear shackles were worn had them welded and machined back out for the new bushings. Hard to find a shop to weld cast iron but if you look hard enough there out there.
