Shackle location question

I understand the purpose of a shackle and how it works and all of the rigs I have seen that I can recall have the front leaf spring shackles at the rear of the leaves. Tonight I was looking at a new issue of an off road magazine and saw a jeep with Rockwells that had the shackle in the front and the fixed mount in the rear location. Would this have something to do with jeeps being "spring under" instead of most rigs that are "spring over"? Is there a reason to place the shackle in the front or rear of the front leaves? What about the rear leaves? Thanks

Shackle on the rear is better as when tire hits object suspension goes up and back then going over obstacle.
Shackle in the front suspension goes up and forward pushing you off the obsticle in a way.

I see. Any idea why jeeps have the shackle in shackle in the front and not the rear? Just curious.

All of the Fords from 80-97 have them in the front, not sure why they did it that way. There's even a few companies selling kits (Reverse shackle kit) to put the shackle in the rear where it should be. Most don't use/need a trac bar once they move it to the rear either.

I might happen to have a 96 and a 95 you can shackle reversal for experimental purposes.

'cause that thing rides like a damn brick (especially the 95)

Bring down the two trucks, 1/2 pallet of beer, box of cigars and fifth of liquor.

I will provide the rest.

If i was there you could substitute the half pallet of beer with more liquor, i am not a big beer drinker, I can however put down some liquor.

Also glad my F350 is coil sprung.
