My 2014 f250 6.7 has been at the ford dealership since the end of April. It’s waiting on a short block parts we’re ordered beginning of July but short block is back ordered. Ford can’t give me any ETA just wondering if anyone out there is in a similar situation and if your dealership has been able to give you any timelines. TIA
Long blocks are on backorder as well. Have 2 trucks sitting at our shop waiting for long blocks from Ford. Both been there over a month, no ETA from Ford.
Brought my 17 F250 into the shop June 1st. Been waiting on a short block since June 5th. Still no ETA.
There are supposedly 570 on back order.
super frustrating, as I’m 5 months without a truck now.

Yeah this is crazy can’t believe Ford can’t figure something out and can just let their customers go this long without having a vehicle. The fact they can’t give any sort of date when they will be shipping out is unacceptable. Will definitely think twice before I buy my next Ford.
Late to this thread but it’s the shortage of good cores that is causing this. Asheville engines has the 2014 but no 2015 up. Don’t know the difference. All major rebuilders are having this problem. It is kinda a good problem because it states that our engines are strong but bad for the ones that have a problem.

or it says when the engine craps out it’s not rebuildable.
We just got word back today that one of our customers engines we sent out for rebuild was not rebuildable. Block and crank could not be reused. Builder has no odea when He might get cores in or blocks.
Was not sent out and checked for fuel. Spun 2 mains and 5 rods. Truck is emissions deleted so I doubt it has much if any fuel dilution. Owners runs the truck VERY hard.

the cp4 is mechanically driven. The is a seal between the pump and crank case . If the seal fails, fuel will get into the engine oil. Operators will never notice this since the level increase due to fuel contamination will just increase the oil vapors that go into intake via CCV. Last week someone had 10% fuel in their oil. I think the ford max is 6%.
anyway, with 500 engines on back order and high amount of cores not rebuildable…very curious about this.

update:
still no movement on the short block, and no eta.
dealer told me that if it takes 4 years, there’s nothing we can do.
what kind of a response/answer is that to a customer?
I work in supply chain management, so I get it from the dealers stand point. My wife on the other hand isn’t having any of it.
says she’ll never buy a car from this dealer again, and maybe not a ford either.
I just think it’s ridiculous. A local shop can get a remanned long block for 9K, with a 2 year unlimited like warranty. Ford won’t approve it though.
Kind of at my wits end with it. Do I keep waiting? Or cut my losses and buy a remanned and put it in myself(BIL is a diesel mechanic).
on a high note, once Carmax found out what I was going through(bought this from them in December of 2021), they reached out and are exploring options. Even offered to buy it back for the purchase price and let me get something else.
