once Carmax found out what I was going through(bought this from them in December of 2021), they reached out and are exploring options. Even offered to buy it back for the purchase price and let me get something else.
Carmax wouldn't have to ask me twice. I'd let them have it back.
My truck has been sitting on a lift 5 months now. Every month I get a shipping date. Comes and goes another date a month out gets sent to me. Anyone ever get another truck out of anything like this? I’m under warranty but I bought used. Lemon law would only help me out personally if I could just get into a new truck. Is this a never going to happen type of thing?
We have a couple of 14's sitting out back due to dpf being in need of replacing. I am thinking maybe buy the truck on the cheap, ( doing them a favor by getting rid of it ) and remove and sell the engine.......
So I spoke with the general manager a couple weeks ago, and the next day the service manager told me they were ordering a long block.
Great, now it’ll be 12-13 weeks until I get it, but at least there’s a date.
drove by the dealership this weekend, and my truck was no longer parked outside. They got the longblock on Friday evening, and it’s currently being installed.
should have my truck this afternoon or tomorrow.
Mira been a long time since June 1st when I dropped it off, and I’ll be happy to finally have it back.
I have been speaking directly with ford ( which has proved to be useless) they are still saying short blocks have an indefinite ETA. The woman who I am dealing with has not offered any other information and will not give me any one else's contact info. Someone, somewhere within ford has to know something! Has anyone else had any concrete info passed along to them?
Have you looked at other blocks options? Like RCD, Kill Devil, and ect. That is if you even have an option of that. Ford has had back order blocks for both short and long for well over a year now leaving people without a engine. You see people quite often on the facebook pages running into that issue. Including some poor guy, who's dealership left his kingranch or platnum in the back lot with the windows down for months.
Edit: I really should have started out with this first. What exactly is wrong with your block? Ford seems to have a habit of not rebuilding motors even though the have the step sized bearings and pre-2020 have step sized pistons available.
(Which I also thinks contributes to the short and long block shortages as the part swapping monkeys will just swap a block for the sake of laziness and it's easier and cheaper on their end to tell a customer about back order delays than sending a block to a machine shop)
Origin of the problem was the CP4 HPFP. Fuel system is getting replaced as well. I have, as well as the shop where my truck is, looked into aftermarket options and continue to. There's a shortage of cores and having a hard time going down that road, too. Just frustrating all around.

Is your current block scored beyond a over bore? Like if a injector nozzle broke off or something.

That happened to me as well windows down and all of the parts from the motor were left in the bed of the truck!
I may be in the same boat, as I'm waiting on a new 6.7 L PS engine from Ford, under warranty, on account of their internal design failure ( CCV clog ). Did you ever get your engine ( I hope so ), and if not did reach out to lawyers or get any other kind of assistance ? I use mine for my business, and no way can I be out for 5 months.

What year truck do you have? Did yours have the serviceable box (filter)?
