hubs vs ball joints

What failed first the ball joint or the egg..... I mean hub? Has everyone who replaced theirs hubs had the hubs fail faster b/c the ball joints fail first, or vice versa? Is there any correlation between these?

I don't think the ball joints failing will hurt anything else. The bearing failing will take out the locking hub and axle if bad enough.

Since I only replaced the bad drivers side hub, and didn;t replace the bad ball joint, the shimmy / vibration is still there, but much less noticeable. The pasenger side hub is still fine, but the balljoint on that side is going. So I have two ball joints in varying states of decay, and was thinking that the constant play and vibration had something to due with the hub failing, at least helping it fail early. Could this be? I'm still learning about the cause and effects from the front end componenets. Also, after I install the dynatrac front end, I'll be able to see what kind of a difference it makes. Do you know if it comes with Moog ball joints?

No I don't....Bad ball joints should always be replaced as could lead to breakage of the joint...

hubs/ball joints

Just did my tire rotation, while I had the front end up on stands, put a bar under the tire and pryed up and got some up and down movement on the ball joints. Only have 83K on this truck. If I gotta replace them is there better than stock items to use?And did someone say that some part of the wheel assembly is non-serviceable?Any how any info you guys could give before I dive into this woul be great!!!

Thanks Tony
