I have a 250 super duty and am looking to buy a gooseneck stock trailer. I have heard that Ford will Change the axle blocks in the rear end to lower the back of the truck. I also pull a fifth will camper and it runs up hill and drags the back end. Has any one else heard of this.
Thanks
Jeffo ,welcome to FTE. I take it your F250 is a 4x4. Depending on the year it has either a 4"(99)or a 2"(00-present).If it has the 4"block the dealer had a bulletin for switching them to the 2".I have a 99 single rear wheel F350(same as f250 with the 4"block)I pull a 4-star 2 horse gooseneck and i had to raise the gooseneck coupler to lower the nose of the trailer to try and level it.It still sets a little nose high but not enough to worry about. It depends on the trailer, some use different axles and taller tires.most trailers with 8-lug axles seem to have the height to match the truck.
I'm afraid that the 1999 F250 rear block exchange program has expired. Unless your dealer is extremely nice, you'll have to pay for the swap. Don't forget- you'll need the mounting hardware (U-bolts and nuts) in addition to the blocks themselves.
