Has anyone figured out a fix for the P0791 code yet for the transmission? the code states its for the "intermediate shaft speed sensor" but there isnt actually a sensor named that. According to a ford person, I need to replace the conductor plate but when I try to find that part for my transmission, no one has it.
Ford says that if I buy the body assembly for $2295.00, it comes attached but they cant sell it by itself.
I can find conductor plates for most transmissions, but not for mine. I have the 2009 5R110W transmission. I have searched this site and cant find anything by the code or the name of the problem. I am usually pretty good at looking for information but I cant find anything on this. I had a tranny guy look at it and he verified that in and out sensors are working fine, but the intermediate shaft speed sensor is the problem.
can anyone help me figure out this sensor is located and where to buy one?
The ISS (Intermediate Shaft Speed) and TSS (Turbine Shaft Sensor aka Input Shaft Sensor) are integrated into a single sensor.
It is readily available and easily replaced if actually defective. Fault codes do not mean to replace a part, they are a data point to guide troubleshooting.
thank you very much for that link, that rocks. I agree that a code does not mean a part needs to be replaced but Ford and my transmission guy said that the TSS were inside the transmission on top of the solenoids. I couldnt find anything that showed a conductor plate inside of the transmission, nor could I find a replacement part. this helps because now that I know where the sensor is, I can test it to verify if the problem is the sensor or something else.
any chance you know where I can get a wiring schematic for this vehicle?
You can purchase a three day subscription for $20 to the Motorcraft Service technical website (which is the OEM subscription) and download as many wiring diagrams as you want.
