1991 E350 - Front End Upgrade
With the body change in1992 it might be different enough that you'll need to select parts specified as fitting either the 1991 OR 1992. If you have the luxury of grounding this van while you're servicing the steering linkage you'd be able to inspect the various components with an eye towards replacing anything truly at the end of its life.
As for suggestions or a "how to" check YouTube for E-Series steering linkage servicing---should be more than a few that would be helpful if you've not done this before. You will need stout tools that should be mentioned in any video you might find.
Good luck with this project.
. I doubt many parts would interchange since 92 has ball joints instead of king pins and the whole van was redesigned. Also I believe that the stabilizer bar design is different.
Perhaps the only parts that would interchange would be the radius arm bushings and axle pivot bushings.
The only parts I did not change on my van was the king pin bushings because there is no play in them at all. I did later wind up changing out the right spindle with a new ford spindle which came with new bushings. I did not know that the new spindle wold come with bushings already installed so I had ordered a Ford king pin kit which comes with pins, bushings, seal, upper and lower caps and alemites. When I checked last year, Ford kits for the E350 were still plentiful.
Coil springs, be careful with those. I used the Moog web site when selecting my new coil springs and then bought them through Walmart to save 30 or 40 dollars. Big mistake. The springs fit but were too tall and caused way too much negative camber. I was told to drive it a bit and that the springs wold settle but they didn't. I wound up reinstalling the old springs which I am still using today. Walmart would not accept the return and Moog would not help so they sit off n the corner of my shop!
My advice on coil springs is first check the ride height to see if you even need to replace them. I only replaced mine because I was replacing all of the front end parts and thought that would save me needing to replace them later. If there is some slight sag, Ford also made a spacer to put under the spring to correct it. Basically it is just a huge flat washer.
