Hello,
My truck is an 85 F-150 XLT Lariat, I believe the relay pictured is for the fuel pump if someone could verify that would be great.
I am having trouble finding a relay with 4 prongs. Every one I find has 5. Will that work? I attached some pics, as you can see it is very corroded. Will an electric cleaner work or is it to far gone. Thanks for any assistance. I have been working on this truck for several years when I have time and I think I tracked down one of the last remaining issues with this relay. The PO let it sit up for about 5 years. It is located on the driver fender.
Thanks in advance from the Pascagoula Swamp.
Looks like Standard Motor Products RY46 will work. The OEM number is in the cross-reference list:
Sorry, my phone is acting up and won’t properly paste a link. Search for the OEM number (no spaces) and one of the first hits is RockAuto. Click on “installation instructions” and it says it will replace 4 or 5 prong relays.
If the 5th prong gets in the way, cut it off. It’s not needed.
I think someone posted not long ago that the 5 pin relay will work.
Look at the socket and I think it is made for the 5 pin but just not used.

If you are going to replace the relay socket also, you could just get a universal Bosch type relay and use that. Here it is with the socket and pigtails.
That's definitely the cheaper route, but I am not good with electricity so I don't know if I can match up the wires since the connections are different.

We can walk you through it if you’d like to go that route. Should be a piece of cake with only four wires to match up.
This is good info. Would this also work for the EEC relay?
Yes, but of course with different wire colors. Ford doesn't have the market locked in on 12 volt relays, but they do on the oddball ones they spec'd out and used. You just have to be willing to do a little wiring, and if you have to change the socket, you will be doing that anyway.
